Abstract
298,810. Flower, S. Dec. 15, 1927. Racket presses.-In a racket press of the kind in which pressure is exerted upon the ratchet by the manipulation of a single member, the member comprises a lever mounted upon one frame of the press and adapted to co-operate either directly or through resilient means with the other member to press the two frames together against the action of separating means. The press comprises two frames a, b that are connected by pins c and normally held apart by springs c'. A lever j<1> pivoted to lugs g upstanding from the frame b is provided adjacent its ends with cranks j<2>, that engage spring plates f secured to the frame a and when the lever is rotated, force the frames together. In a modification, two closed frames are connected by pins that are secured to one frame, but instead of passing through apertures in the other frame, as shown in Fig. 3, slide in sockets attached thereto. The lever j<1> is replaced by a cranked shaft operated by handles attached to its ends.
