277,681. Suter, F. E. Sept. 15, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Speed indicators with indicating and signalling apparatus. - Lamps 4 - - 4" are illuminated and extinguished successively to show the speed of a vehicle to the driver and observers. Each lamp corresponds to a defini te range of speed, e.g. 25-35 kilometres per hour, and is electrically connected by means of a commutator 13 to one of a series of centrifugally actuated switches. Weights 19 are slidable on tubes 18 extending radially from a shaft 15 driven by the vehicle against the action of adjustable springs 21 so that blades 23 make contact with rings 26 successively as the speed of the vehicle varies. The contacts are broken, as the speed increases, by a conical sleeve 31 forcing the blades apart, the position of the sleeve relative to the ring 26 being adjustable. The lamps 4 &c. are provided with lens 5 - - 5<111>, and darkened compartments are formed by partitions 8 and plates 9 radiating from the lamps.
