277,000. Deltheil, R. Sept. 2, 1926, [Convention date]. Bottles modified for use with volatile liquids. - Relates to receptacles for liquids, such as scents, &c. A bottle a, Fig. 5, of glass or other non-porous material, has one or more pieces d of porous material such as biscuit china, pumice stone, felt or filtering material located or attached to in the outer wall. Capillary tubes f connect the interior of the bottle with the material d so that the contents of the bottle can slowly evaporate into the atmosphere. A guard h, and a slide i adapted to modify the area of the evaporating surface may be provided. The bottle may be used for scenting cigarettes &c. by placing it with the articles in a box such as is shown in Fig. 6 of the Specification. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes modifications. In the form shown in Fig. 2 (Cancelled), a bottle a is provided on the exterior with an evaporating member d and the contents of the bottle are applied thereto by a dropping rod c<1> on the stopper c. In another form, Fig. 4, (Cancelled), a recess e is formed behind the evaporating material d to contain a supply of the liquid. As shown in Fig. 8, (Cancelled), the biscuit china &c. d forms part of the wall of the bottle. A tubular stopper c<2>, Fig. 10, (Cancelled), provided with a plug d of evaporating material may be used. An extension d<2> of the plug acts as a wick, and a guard g protects the top of the stopper. A similar device, without the wick, may be applied to a pencil holder or a fountain pen. In some of the above forms, the entire receptac'e may be formed of porous material and covered with varnish or enamel except for a predetermined area to act as an evaporating surface. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
