Abstract

Brush-holders. - A spring holder for the brushes of dvnamoelectric machines comprises (i) a coiled spring t attached at one end to a spindle m, (ii) a catch connected with the spindle in such a manner that rotation can be imparted to the spindle by moving the catch into engagement with a notch r so that the end g of the spring bears on the brush k, and (iii) gearing such as worm wheel e on the spindle and a worm c to enable rotation of the spindle to be effected for accurate adjustment of the spring pressure. A plate n, rotatably mounted on the spindle, carries the bearings u for the worm c and an eye v holding the catch d. The plate n is locked in position and the spring tensioned when the catch engages with the notch in the side of the brush-holder h, and accurate adjustment is effected by turning the milled head s on the worm shaft. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the invention is not limited to brush-holders for dynamo-electric machines. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
