Saws.-In circular saws with inset teeth, the tooth or its socket is so formed that the tooth in cutting tends to turn about a point P<1> situated in, or in front of, a radial line R through the cutting-edge of the tooth. This may be effected, e.g. by cutting away the box of the socket, as in Fig. 5, or by shaping the bottom of the tooth as in Fig. 6. Any usual securing means such as a wedge F may be used, with or without interlocking tongues and grooves h.
