Abstract
273,045. Schueler, G. R. April 16, 1926. Catalysts, activating electrolytically; electrodes.-In apparatus for the catalytic hydrogenation of liquids, in which a metallic catalyst is packed in one or more cages in a container to which the liquid to be treated and the hydrogenating gas are supplied, the cages are traversed by a perforated tube, or by a plurality of connected perforated tubes, which carry peripherally a number of wire coils, preferably of nickel. These coils facilitate electrical connection between the tube and the catalyst, so that the tube may form an electric terminal during anodic activation. As shown, the catalyst D is packed in cages C, C<1>, C<2> traversed by a perforated tube E made in three portions connected by collars E<1>. The tube E carries a number of wire coils H.
