Stropping-apparatus. - The rollers of machines for stropping &c, razors &c. are formed with interengaging ribs and grooves, which extend in multiple wave or zig-zag shape in the direction of the axis of the roller, or return into one another in the manner of helical lines of reversing pitch forming closed curves. Fig. 1 shows two rollers with the ribs and grooves formed as curves of recurring wave shape, and Fig. 4 shows a development of the surface of a roller with zig-zag ribs and grooves. The amplitude of the waved grooves is equal to the width of a groove, or to an even multiple thereof. Specification 111,575 is referred to.
