Abstract

272,108. Kingston, J. S. Dec. 9, 1926. Electrical systems, automatic; track apparatus actuating signals other than on trains. -Apparatus for giving warning at level crossings of the approach of a train, includes a generator on the train, a trolley wire E running above the track for a suitable distance from the crossing, and a post J with signals at the crossing. Current is supplied to the wire E through a trolley bar C on the engine and passes to earth through the signal operating devices. The signals may consist of a lamp K, a gong L and an oscillating arm X. The arrangement may be used at sharp bends in the track and an indicating device such as a voltmeter may be employed on the engine.
