Apparatus fitted to conveyers. - In an automatic integrating conveyer weigher of the type that weighs both empty and loaded conveyer strands, mechanism is provided for (a) temporarily isolating the whole of the weighing system from the conveyer to permit of zero adjustment of the weighing mechanism, (b) ensuring that the integrated weight records can only be taken when the whole conveyer has passed over both weigh tables an integral number of times. As shown in Fig. 1, a bucket conveyer A passes over fixed tracks B1 - - B4 and over detached tracks C1, C2 supported as usual on weighing levers D1, D2, E. An integrator of usual form, driven from the conveyer transmits its results to an indicator F. Arranged alongside the tracks C1, C2 are additional tracks (not shown) adapted to be raised by hand-operated cams J1 - - J4 so as to engage the flanges of the conveyer wheels and thus lift the conveyer clear of the weighing tracks. The balance of the weighing system may then be tested separately from the conveyer. To prevent an indication or record of the weight being taken unless the conveyer has made a complete number of rotations a sliding masking plate M, Fig. 3, normally obscures the indicator F but is moved to display the indications by a cam plate O on the conveyer acting through connection P, Q, R. The masking plate, in its obscuring position, obstructs the free movement of the printing handle L and prevents a record being obtained. In the indicating position a notch M1 in the masking plate permits the printing handle freedom to produce a record. After the passage of the cam plate O a weighted lever S returns the masking plate. To permit readings to be taken at leisure the lever S and rod P may be held in the upper position by a hand-operated stop cam V, the indicator F being disconnected from the integrator gear wheel K by a clutch T. The masking plate M may be moved by electrical means instead of by the cam plate 0; instead of a masking plate, the indicator may normally be in darkness and may be rendered visible at the appropriate time by electrical illuminating means. In order to run the integrating mechanism during an equilibrium adjustment of the weighing mechanism without running the conveyer the integrating mechanism which drives the gear wheel K, Fig. 4, and the indicator F, is temporarily driven by an electromotor W. The drive from the conveyer to the integrating mechanism is disconnected and is transferred to the motor W by a hand-operated clutch V. In a modification where the motor W is dispensed with a gear X may be declutched from the conveyer and the integrating mechanism rotated by hand.
