Reproducers, arrangement of and mounting.- Relates to gramophones adapted to reproduce sound from records either mechanically or electrically, and consists in pivotally mounting an electric reproducer on a tone-arm on which an ordinary sound-box is also pivoted as usual. Either reproducer can be brought into operation when the other is in the non-playing position, and the reproducers are so mounted that both styluses are adapted to traverse the same path across the record. Fig. 2 shows an electric reproducer or " pick-up " 8, of any suitable type, mounted on an arm 10 which is pivoted at 16 on a bracket) 12 screwed to the tone-arm 3. This has an ordinary goose-neck 6 carrying a sound-box 5. The latter is shown in full lines as being out of action, the reproducer 8 being in position with its stylus in engagement, with the record in the position which the stylus 7 occupies when in use. Leads 18, connecting the pick-up 8 with suitable electric reproducing-apparatus, extend along a groove in the arm 10 and through a tube (not shown) secured by brackets to the tone-arm. A method of mounting the pick-up 8 on the carrying arm 10, and of connecting the leads 18 with the pick-up, is shown in Fig. 4. The device 8 has a neck engaging over an annular flange 11 on the end of the arm 10, and also has secured thereto a plug 36 adapted to be received in the hollow end of the arm. The plug 36 carries contacts 38 which engage spring-pressed contact pins 32, these being mounted in bushings 30 in an insulating plug 27, and being connected to the leads 18, which pass through an opening 19 into the groove 21 in the arm 10.
