Animal-carrying vehicles. -A closed vehicle body for transporting animals has a side opening the length of the animal box, a door or doors 9, Fig. 4, to the opening and a ramp 7 hinged to the bottom of the opening, detachable means 12, 15, 16, 20 to divide the box longitudinally into stalls, and a compartment 4, Fig. 3, at the rear of the body for attendants, saddlery, &c., the compartment having access to the box. The central sectional bail 12, 15, 16 is hinged to a. removable post 14, the whole being removed and packed on the running board when a loose box is required. A head board 20, in alignment with the central bail, is hinged to the roof where it can be locked out of the way. An adjustable chest rail 21 and a pair of hinged chest boards 22 are provided for each stall, one chest board being lowered as shown in dotted lines for access to the stall. In the compartment 4 a central wing 28 may be fixed and food and water bins 29 may be disposed on lockers 30. A saddlery rack 32 and tip-up seats 31 are also provided. The floor is drained through holes 25 and the partitions and part of the roof above the animal's heads may be padded. The ramp 7 is mounted on spring-controlled hinges 8 and is lined with rubber &c., the doors 9 opening outwardly to form side wings to the ramp in its lowered position.
