Heating and cooking vessels; jackets; lids and covers.-Relates to jacketed cooking-vessels of the class comprising a food-container supported within and separated by a flue-space from an openbottomed casing adapted to be supported upon a stove. The food container 1 (shown in dotted lines Fig. 1) has a cover 4 which may be separated from or connected to the cover 5 of the outer casing 6; in the latter case while the two covers mav be merely arranged to be lifted on and off by hand, as in Fig. 1 they may be slidably mounted by suitable bearings on a vertical shaft and arranged to be raised and swung aside in the manner indicated in Fig. 4 or they may be hinged as shown in Fig. 8, or again they may be mounted on a pair of vertical shafts formed in two portions pivoted together, enabling the covers to be opened in a hinge-like manner as shown in Fig, 13. The food-container bottom and sides are provided internally with a lining of suitable heat non- conducting material such as the frame-work 42. Fig. 4, which may also be used to support partitions or trays, and externally the food-container and its lid are covered with sheet asbestos or similar materal. Between the food-container and the casing is a flue space 8, see Fig. 2, which is continuous also between the two covers, being maintained by suitable distance-pieces, and the casing is lined internally with similar material 7 to the covering of the food-container. Externally, the casing has more asbestos or similar packing material 14, separated from it by rings 7a providing an enclosed air-jacket space, the covering 14 being in turn surrounded by a plywood or other suitable casing 15. The flue gases escape finally through apertures provided in the top of the casing cover 5 which may be provided with supporting means such as the plate 35, Fig. 1, for enabling articles placed thereon to be heated by the gases. The Provisional Specifications describe many modifications and alternative constructions, including provision for increasing the effective heating-surface of the food-container' by means of projecting bars of copper and also forms in which the outer casing is dispensed with.
