Abstract
266,990. British-American Laundry Machinery Co., Ltd., (American Laundry Machinery Co.). Aug. 11, 1926. Press-type ironing-machines.-In a press of the type which is manually closed, with motoroperated means to apply the final heavy pressure, means are provided to prevent mechanically the switching in of the motor until the press has been closed to a. safe position, and other means are provided to lock the press in the open position. In manually closing the press the toggle links 24, 25 are straightened, and until the safe position has been reached a hook shaped member 28 is prevented from swinging about its pivot 27 by an extension 40 fouling a projection from the knuckle pin 26 of the toggle. In the safe position the knuckle has risen to a straight position 29 of the hook, and when this happens a handle 41, mechanically linked to the hook member, can be swung counterclockwise to actuate a switch to switch in the motor. The means for locking the press in open position comprise engaging members 34, 36 carried by the lever arm 4 and stationary frame 1<a> respectively and released by rotation of the handle 13 by which the press is closed.
