Cabinets; sectional cabinets.-Gramophone records contained within cases or envelopes of ordinary form are pivotally filed upon a rod passing through an aperture in the lower forward corner of the envelope, so that the envelope can be swung forward to expose its central portion, thereby revealing the title upon the centre of the record when envelopes of the open-centred type are used. An envelope 6, Fig. 2, with a central aperture 8 is filed upon a rod 5 passing through an eyeleted aperture 7, the ends of the rod being supported by the sides 1, 2, Fig. 1, of a filing unit. Clamping-nuts screwed upon the ends of the rod 5 hold is rigidly in position. The envelope may be retained in a forward position by frictional engagement with the envelopes adjacent to it, or a supporting rail 11, preferably padded, may be provided along the front lower edge of the base 3. Screws 4 hold the sides 1, 2 to the base 3, so that either of them may be removed to expand the filing unit by the attachment of a similar unit, a thin partition member being substituted for the removed side and the bases being connected end on by dowels or the like. The rod 5 is extended by providing its ends with screwthreaded sockets to receive the ends of extension pieces. The file may be provided with an index consisting of a sheet of the same size as the envelopes, pivoted upon the rod 5 and provided on its outer edge with a hinged index tablet which normally is folded upon the main sheet when the latter is retracted within the file. Recesses 20 may be cut in the side walls 1, 2 to form handles.
