Controllers with automatic release devices; vices; controlling interlocking with auxiliary switches. - In motor controllers or switches provided with automatic release devices, the automatic devices are mounted on a hinged frame which, when the apparatus is in working condition, lies parallel to and in front of the main controller or switch gear; the frame can be swung back for inspection and is arranged to break the circuit connections in so doing. For an enclosed three-phase change-over motor starter having a switch drum B and stationary contacts E<1> - - E', a flat frame D attached to the casing by hinges d' inside the hinged cover a<1> carries overload devices o', 0<SP>2>, a no-volt device N, and plug or blade terminals e<1> - - e<5> arranged to make connection with the respective contacts E<1> - - E<5> when the apparatus is closed up from the position shown. The closing-up action also brings the tripping member of the no-volt device within range of the catch which holds the controller drum in the running position. The tripping member is so shaped that the catch is necessarily freed when the hinged frame is swung back. The cover carries a spring push T for tripping the catch manually when required.
