Driving-gear; capstans.-A handwheel 14 free on the driving shaft 2 is connected to a pair of eccentrics 11, the straps 10 of which are connected to pivots 8 projecting from the upper side of bolts 5. Guides 4 in a member 1 secured to the shaft 2 direct the bolts 5 into recesses 6 in the cable wheel 3, or winding drum, when the handwheel 14 is turned to couple the wheel 3 and driving shaft. A skirt 15 on the handwheel 14 makes a joint with the cover 16 which is secured to the member 1. Movement of the handwheel is limited by stops 19.
