Automatic-feed weighers. - An apparatus for weighing cement and water in the requisite proportions for delivery to a concrete-mixer comprises receptacles respectively for cement and water operatively associated with a balancing mechanism, a valve-controlled conduit for supplying water to the water receptacle, means controlled by the balancing mechanism for closing the valve when the receptacles reach a balanced relationship providing any desired predetermined ratio of water to cement, means for adjusting the balancing mechanism so as to vary the ratio of water to cement, and means for discharging the contents of the receptacles into the concrete mixing apparatus. The cement is placed in a receptacle 19 pivoted upon one arm of a balance beam 14 fulcrumed on a support 13 and carrying on the other arm the liquid receptacle 24. The receptacle 24 may be adjusted along the arm by means of a screw 25 and a hand wheel 26. A lock 47 may be applied to the hand wheel after adjustment. The water is admitted to the receptacle 24 through a pipe 27 valve 29 and spout 30 by turning a weighted arm 32 from the vertical position to the horizontal position shown. A hook 34 attached to the spindle of the arm 32 is, at the same time, brought into engagement with, and retained by, a latch pin 37 carried by a spring- pressed member 36 pivoted upon the balance beam. When the requite quantity of water has entered the receptacle 24 the consequent depression of the balance beam liberates the hook 34 and the weighted arm 32 falls and cuts off the supply. The cement is then tipped into the concrete mixer by means of a handle 23 and the water is allowed to run out of its receptacle and down a conduit 44 by raising a valve 41 by means of a hand lever 42. Instead of providing automatic means for cutting off the supply of water, the apparatus may be arranged to cut off the supply nf dry cement.
