Abstract

262,632. Hinderliter, F. J. Feb. 22, 1926. Borehole apparatus.-A fisl ing tool for recovering lost articles from boreholes comprises an offset spud 16 extending below a gripping lever 20 so as to strike against the object 13 and bring it to an erect position. The lever 20 is pivoted at 22 in a recess in the shank. In operation, the device is lowered through the casing 10, 11 and the offset spud then swings clear of the casing and lies close to the wall of the hole. The gripping lever 20 is held away from the spud by a pin 26. When the tool strikes the object 13, the pin is fractured and the grip is closed by springs 23. The spud may be semi-circular in crosssection and provided with sexrated slips 17 sliding in inclined grooves to grip circular objects by a wedging action.
