Abstract

261,806. White, A. E., (Dick Co., A. B.). May 26, 1925. Stencils.-Stencil sheets for use on duplicating- machines are coated with a composition comprising cellulose acetate, a tempering-agent, and a lubricant, defined as an ingredient which will decrease the resistance of the composition to being parted under the pressure of the type when cutting the stencil. Halogenated hydrocarbons, e.g. chlorinated naphthalene, zinc stearate, and oils such as castor, rape-seed, olive, almond, or peanut oil, are examples of suitable lubricants, and amyl and butyl tartrates and phthalates, monoacetin, diacetin, triacelin, and esters of glycerine are suitable tempering-agents. Two compositions are specified, comprising, in stated proportions, (1) cellulose acetate dissolved in acetone, monoacetin, chlorinated naphthalene, castor oil, Prussian blue, zinc stearate, and Turkey red oil or sulphonated corn oil, (2) cellulose acetate in acetone, starch acetate in acetone, castor oil, chlorinated naphthalene, and dibutyl tartrate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 195,977 and 201,882.
