Electrically-actuated valves.-In apparatus for supplying compressed air to tyres or other articles, an electric circuit controlling the actuation of a supply-valve is broken (to close the valve) by the air-pressure in a piping system when a predetermined pressure is reached. In the apparatus shown, compressed air passes from the container 1 to a chamber 3 fitted with a spring-pressed valve 4, the rod 7 of which pro-- jects to co-operate with a tappet 10 on the pivoted armature of an electromagnet 9. When the magnet is energized, the valve 4 is opened and compressed air passes through the pipe 2 to the tyre 23 through a branch 20 fitted with a cock 19. The pipe 2 leads to a chamber 16 in which is fitted all adjustable diaphragm 21 carrying a bracket 22' with an adjusting-screw 22 controlling the arm 14 of a switch 14, 15. This switch is in the circuit of a solenoid relay 13, the armature 12 of which is in the shunt circuit of the magnet 9. A lamp 46 and bell 47 are arranged in other shunt circuits also controlled by the switch 14, 15. The spindle 29 of the core 27 carries collars 30, 31 which, in the raised position of the core, close the circuits of the magnet 9 and the signal devices 46, 47. The core 27 extends into a dashpot 40, containing oil 41, and is fitted with a perforated plate 36 with a spring-pressed disc bearing on its underside. This device serves to retard the fall of the core and. in consequence, the closing of the valve 4 when the relay circuit is broken.
