Abstract

Lantern shutters. - In a vehicle or like lamp in which a hood is pivotally mounted on a split collar detachably secured around the front rim of the lamp casing, the hood is so mounted that it may be adjusted circumferentially relative to the lamp casing without loosening or displacing the split ring. A part-spherical hood 6 having a curved front edge 6<a> is pivotally mounted on two diametrically opposite screws the heads of which are accommodated within a raised central portion of a one-piece channelsectioned split ring or collar 2 and the shanks of which project outwardly through elongated slots 8 cut circumferentially in the ring 2 and through holes in the hood, the latter being. secured in any desired angular position by means of a spring washer and a wing or other nut 10. The ring 2 is clamped on the front rim 1 by means of a screw, bolt, or the like and inserted through cylindrical or other members 5 carried by outwardly curved tongues 3 at the split ends of the ring, and the forward movement of the hood is limited by a lip 6b.
