Abstract
A wrist worn locating tracking device is provided including a strap 10 and a latch, fastener, or clip 11 that can only be opened or unlocked by an authorised user via transmission of a specific code. A heart rate monitor 13 may also be mounted on the strap. The watch may include a GPS receiver 12 such that the wearer can be located by a carer or other authority. The watch may communicate a signal to the authorities to warn them that the wearer is in distress and needs assistance. The watch may further include a temperature sensor. A battery 14 is included in the watch which may be charged by solar.
Description
TRACK AND TRACE WATCHES
Field of the Invention
This invention relates to track and trace watches and it is an object of the present invention to provide an improved track and trace watch.
Many people suffering from dementia go missing and may walk out of care homes or their own property, totally unaware that relatives or the police are looking for them.
It is accordingly a specific object of the present invention to provide a track and trace watch suitable for wearing by people suffering from dementia.
Summary of the Invention
According to the present invention there is provided a track and trace watch having a flexible strap for fitment around the wrist of the user and the strap having a fastener that can only be opened on transmission of a specific code.
The person wearing the watch is not notified of the code and is thus not able to remove the watch from his or her wrist whereas their relative or carer is notified of the code.
According to a further aspect of the present invention there is provided a track and trace watch having a flexible strap for fitment around the wrist of the user and a heart-beat monitor mounted on the strap.
The trace and trace watch is preferably made of lightweight materials, such as carbon fibre.
Brief Description of the Drawing
Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing are a perspective view and a rear view of a track and trace watch.
Description of the Preferred Embodiment
The watch shown in the drawings is intended to be used by a person suffering from dementia or of similar nature and has a strap 10 which fits around the wrist of the user, being held in position by a fastener or clip 11 that can only be opened on reception of a specific code. The wearer of the watch is not informed of the code and is thus not able to take the watch off his or her wrist. The relative or carer responsible for the person wearing the watch is made aware of the code so that the watch can be taken off the user's wrist if and when necessary. If, however, the user does manage to take the watch off his or her wrist an alarm is generated. The watch is comfortable to wear and completely waterproof.
The watch includes a GPS (Global Positioning System) transmitter 12 so that, if the person wearing the watch goes missing, he or she can readily be located by the carer, police or other authority. Each watch has a specific number, for example, AB0025, and the records available for the authorities will include the full name and date of birth of the person wearing the watch. If the person dies, the number (and the watch) can be given to another person who needs this type of tracker and tracer.
The watch's track and trace facility will incorporate means 13 for monitoring and displaying the wearer's temperature and heart beat so that, if necessary, a signal will be sent to the police or ambulance authorities to warn them that the person wearing the watch is in distress and urgent assistance is needed. The watch also displays the date and time.
The watch has a long life battery 14 and the carer or relative will be able to change the battery, using the code to open the battery compartment, or recharge the battery using a quick charger. If the battery is low, a warning signal or "bleep" will be generated.
The battery may be provided with a solar recharging facility so that, during the summer months, when the wearer is likely to spend more time outdoors, the battery is recharged automatically.
