Abstract

260,901. Adams, J. B. June 15, 1926. Buoyant body attachments.-Relates to buoyant jackets of the type having front and rear upper and lower buoyant members and in which the lower buoyant member is hingedly connected to the upper. According to the invention a reversible jacket is provided having two similar upper buoyant members 10, 15 with corresponding lower buoyant members 11, 16 hinged attached thereto. The lower buoyant members swing out horizontally when the jacket is in use.. The buoyant members are made from canvas &c. and filled with kapok &c. or are inflated. Shoulder straps 17 connect the upper members and draw-strings 19 which are positioned by eyelets or loops 20 are provided for securing the jacket. Instead of the eyelets 20, tubular fabric members secured to the upper compartments in a known manner may be employed, through which the draw-strings pass. The straps 17 may be replaced by a strip of fabric.
