Cables, arrangement and dis- ,position of parts of; cables with artificially modified capacity.-Telephone and other long distance signalling cables comprise pairs of wires stranded into quads, an insertion being provided between the wires of each pair for the purpose of spacing them at a predetermined distance and obtaining the required relation between the quad and pair capacities. In the construction shown, the wires 1 have paper insulation 2. The wires of each pair are spaced by layers 3 of folded paper and covered with insulation 4. A common taping 6 binds the wires together.
