Abstract

The invention relates to a system for protecting objects (1) against extreme fire. A self-adhesive alkaline earth silicate wool blended with organic binders (2) is wrapped around the object and then an outer swelling glass reinforced coating is applied by spirally wrapping in an overlapping manner. In addition to the fire protection, the applied system is also mechanically strong. The glass reinforced coating is protected against the effects of UV light by means of a sprayable PU coating (4).

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a method of protecting an object against fire. In particular, it relates to a method by which it is possible to prolong the time for which an outer covering the object remains intact in case of exposure to fire, such as hydrocarbon fire or jet fire. The invention also relates to a method by which the outer dimension of the outer cladding remains substantially unchanged before and after being exposed to fire.

Claims (1)

  1. Claim -1 A method of protecting an object against fire, where the method consists of: Applying by wrapping a self-adhesive roll of alkaline earth silicate wool blended with organic binders around the object so that it covers at least a large part of the object, and applying an outer coating of a swelling glass reinforced coating that has at least a large part of the alkaline earth silicate wool with the alkaline earth silicate wool material supplied as a "tape' self-adhesive roll which is applied by spirally wrapping the roll in an overlapping manner, resulting in a stepped outer surface facing the outer jacket targeted, and in which the outer coating comprises the swelling glass reinforced epoxy that is protected against UV by means of a PU spray coating.Claim -2 The system can easily be wound mechanically and manually around objects.Claim -3 The fire protection is mechanically strong before, during and also after a violent fire.Claim -4 The fire protection is easy to repair where necessary after a heavy fire and does not need to be completely renewed.Claim -5 The fire protection protects plastic pipes for at least 60 minutes against Jet fire according to IMO resolution A.753 Claim -6 The chemical formulas of the composition of the glass reinforced epoxy the UV protection and the mix ratios are recorded at Van der Kuijp, Notariaat Strijen, Beatrixstraat 1, zip code 3291 BA I Strijen I Kingdom of the Netherlands
