Abstract

A coating material 1 for repairing painted surfaces 3 comprises (i) at least one binder comprising a polyacrylate resin, (ii) water and/or an organic solvent, and (iii) a colourant. Typically, the material comprises 0.01-34 wt.% binder, 0.01-34 wt.% water/solvent, and 0.01-34 wt.% colourant. The colourant may be an organic and/or inorganic pigment and may be titanium oxide, bismuth vanadate, chromate, iron hexacyanidoferrate, ultramarine blue, or mixtures thereof. The solvent may be n-butyl acetate, 2-propanol, xylene, toluene, a benzene derivative, or mixtures thereof. A coating pen for repairing painted surfaces with the coating material is also disclosed, which comprises at least one filling chamber and at least one applicator. The applicator may comprise a brush, pipette, or fibre-containing refill. In another aspect, a coating 2 for repairing painted surfaces comprises sequentially a primer 20, a filler 21, the coating material, and a clear lacquer top layer 22.

Description

Coating material, coating pen and coating for repairing painted surfaces
Technical field
The present invention relates to a coating material for repairing painted surfaces, in particular damaged areas in painted surfaces according to the preamble of claim 1. The present invention also relates to a coating pen having such a coating material. The present invention also relates to a coating having a coating material.
Presentation of the invention The object of the present invention is to create a coating material, by means of 15 which damaged areas in the paint (for example on damaged body parts on vehicles, etc.) can be repaired in a simple and durable manner.
According to the invention, the above object is achieved according to the preamble of claim 1 in conjunction with the characterising features. 20 Advantageous configurations and developments of the coating material according to the invention are specified in the dependent subclaims.
The coating material of the invention initially comprises at least one binder, one solvent and one colourant.
According to the invention, a coating material of the type mentioned at the outset is characterised in that the binder comprises a polyacrylate resin, a polyethane resin or mixtures of polyacrylate resin and polyethane resin, the solvent comprising water and/or an organic solvent.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the binder is contained in a proportion of 0.01% by weight to 34% by weight based on the total coating material.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the solvent is contained in a proportion of 0.01% by weight to 34% by weight based on the total coating -2 -material.
In addition, in a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the colourant is contained in a proportion of 0.01% by weight to 34% by weight based on the total coating material.
The colourant preferably comprises organic pigments, inorganic pigments, or mixtures of organic pigments and inorganic pigments, wherein the inorganic pigments comprise titanium oxide, bismuth vanadate, chromates, iron hexacyanidoferrate, ultramarine blue or mixtures of titanium oxide, bismuth vanadate, chromates, iron hexacyanidoferrate and/or ultramarine blue.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the solvent comprises n-butyl acetate, 2-propanol, xylene, toluene, a benzene derivative or mixtures of n-butyl acetate, 2-propanol, xylene, toluene and/or benzene derivative.
The present invention further concerns a coating pen for repairing painted surfaces with such a coating material, wherein the coating pen comprises at least one filling chamber and at least one application device, wherein it is particularly preferably that the at least one application device is a brush, a pipette or a fibre-containing refill.
Brief description of the drawing
Further objects, features, advantages and possible applications of the coating according to the invention emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing. In this regard, all described and/or illustrated features alone or in any combination form the subject matter of the present invention, irrespective of the summary thereof in the claims or their back-references.
In the drawing: Fig. 1 shows a damaged area on a painted surface which has been repaired with the coating according to the invention. -3 -
Implementation of the invention As can be seen from Fig. 1, the coating 2 according to the invention comprises, as the lower layer, a primer 20, to which a filler 21 is applied, to which the coating material 1 is applied, to which a clear lacquer 22 is applied as the top layer.
To produce the coating 2 according to the invention, a damaged area 30 on a painted surface 3 is first cleaned according to the method, the cleaning preferably being carried out using alcohol, water or mixtures thereof.
The coating material 1 according to the invention is then applied as described, wherein a preferably 30 second to 10 minute drying (e.g. by means of air drying) and curing of the coating material 1 applied to the damaged area 30 then occurs, wherein the coating 2 can then be polished.
The coating material 1 according to the invention, the coating 2 and the coating pen are not limited in their embodiments to the preferred embodiments specified above. Rather, a large number of design variations are conceivable, which make use of the solution shown even if the design is fundamentally different.
