Abstract
259,406. Klima, R., and Reischenbacher, H. Nov. 13, 1925. Snow ploughs.-A snow plough for locomotives has horizontally pivoted shovels 4 seen in plan in Fig. 2, and vertically pivoted lateral vanes 12, 13 mounted on the usual fixed wedgeshaped plough 2, the shovels and vanes being turned about their hinges by. steam cylinders 9, 25, respectively. The lateral vanes 12, Fig. 3, are raised about their hinge pins 14 by inclined blocks 16 on the vanes engaging rollers 17, and the vanes are locked in adjusted position by bolts 19, Fig. 2, engaging recesses 18 in the blocks. T'wo-way cocks governing the steam supply to the cylinders and pedals for releasing the bolts 19 are situated in the cab of the engine. In a modification, Fig. 7, the shovels 4 are pivoted to toothed racks 43 and a separate steam cylinder 51 is employed to rotate pinions 49 which engage the racks to raise the shovels, which are held in adjusted position by wedges 52. The shovels are supported against wedges 42 by springs 46. To facilitate breaking through the snow, a beak-shaped super structure 41 with a sharp cutting edge 40 is attached to the front of the locomotive.
