Description

SOLUBLE OLIGONIERS OF PROPANEDIOL AS ACTIVE INGREDIENT FOR THE
REGULATION OF SWEAT SECRETION
TECHNICAL FIELD
100011 The present invention concerns an aqueous cosmetic composition for regulating eccrine sweat secretion comprising at least one oligopropanediol or one oligopropylene glycol. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the use of the aqueous cosmetic composition as an active composition against underarm wetness, as an active composition for regulating sweat secretion or as an antiperspirant active composition. Furthermore, the present invention relates to dosage forms for the aqueous cosmetic composition according to the invention.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Washing, cleaning and caring for your own body is a basic human need. The manufacturers of body hygiene products are constantly trying to meet these human needs in a variety of ways Especially important for daily hygiene is the continuous elimination of body odour. There are numerous special deodorizing body care products known in the state of the art that have been developed for use in body regions with a high density of sweat glands, especially in the armpit region and on the feet.
[0003] It is generally known that the production of sweat varies depending on whether it is secreted from eccrine or apocrine sweat glands.
[0004] Body odour is largely caused by the bacterial decomposition of individual components of apocrine sweat on the skin. In body deodorization, a rough distinction can be made between active substances that absorb (activated carbon, zinc cicinoleate, cyclodextrins, ion exchangers) or cover up (fragrances, perfumes) substances that have already developed an unpleasant smell, and active substances that prevent or at least slow down the decomposition of sweat and the development of the unpleasant smelling substances (germ-inhibiting active substances, prebiotically active components and enzyme inhibitors). Depending on the selected mechanism by which body odour is to be prevented, odour absorbers, fragrances, deodorising ion exchangers, germ-inhibiting agents, prebiotically active components, enzyme inhibitors and other active substances can be used as cosmetic deodorising agents. The active substances must be contained in the compositions, while ensuring that the compositions can be conveniently supplied in a desired pharmaceutical form and that the compositions do not cause an unpleasant feeling on the skin 100051 Sweating via the so-called eccrine glands serves for thermoregulation. It is also known that the stimulation of the eccrine sweat production takes place among other things through thermo-stimulation, i.e. the effect of warm outside temperatures on the body.
100061 The state-of-the-art cosmetic antiperspirants used for eccrine sweat inhibition contain aluminium and/or zirconium compounds as antiperspirant agents. On the one hand, these antiperspirant compounds reduce the body's sweat secretion by temporarily narrowing and/or clogging the ducts of the sweat glands, so that the amount of sweat can be reduced by from about 20 to about 60 percent. On the other hand, they have an additional deodorizing effect due to their antimicrobial effect. However, the aluminium and/or zirconium compounds used to inhibit perspiration can lead to unpleasant skin reactions for some users. Aluminium compounds in particular are regarded critically by consumers. In addition, the use of the aforementioned antiperspirant compounds can lead to staining of clothing.
100071 There is therefore a need to use other antiperspirant cosmetic ingredients instead of the commonly used aluminium and/or zirconium compounds or at least to significantly reduce the amount of these compounds. The antiperspirant active ingredients should have a good antiperspirant effect, good skin tolerance and be easy to formulate. Furthermore, these antiperspirant active substances should not have a negative influence on the storage stability of the cosmetic products used to inhibit perspiration.
BRIEF SUIVINTARY
100081 It is an object of the present invention to provide antiperspirant active substances whose use avoids or at least attenuates the disadvantages of the state of the art and whose use results in a high skin compatibility, low soiling of the clothing and a reliable reduction of underarm wetness.
100091 The above object is achieved, in a first aspect of the invention, by an aqueous cosmetic composition for regulating perspiration comprising at least one oligopropylene glycol based on 1,2-propanediol of formula (I) and/or one oligopropanediol based on 1,3-propanediol of formula (II)
OH o CH3
HO (II),
in which n is between 2 and 15, preferably 2, 3, 4 or 5, the aqueous cosmetic composition having a pH value between about 2 and about 11.
100101 Surprisingly, it has been found that dipropylene glycol or dipropanediol, and also the higher molecular weight oligopropylene glycols or oligopropanediols, are able to influence sweat cell functions. It has been specifically found that dipropanediol and/or dipropylene glycol regulates cell functions in a three-dimensional cell model such as that described in DE102016217172A1. Dipropylene glycol was then tested as a 40% solution in a solvent mixture in a human study on the back of volunteers. The test composition showed a significant sweat reduction of 22.6% after six hours. The particularly preferred oligopropylene glycol is dipropylene glycol.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
100111 The following detailed description is merely exemplary in nature and is not intended to limit the disclosure or the application and uses of the subject matter as described herein. Furthermore, there is no intention to be bound by any theory presented in the preceding background or the following detailed description.

According to the invention, the average HLB value of the oil-in-water emulsifier system is from about 10 -19, preferably from about 12 -18 and particularly preferably from about 14 -17. To achieve such average HLB values, oil-in-water emulsifiers from the HLB value ranges from about 10 -14, from about 14 -16 and from about 16 -19 are preferably combined. Of course, the oil-in-water emulsifier mixtures can also contain non-ionic emulsifiers with HLB values in the range >7 -10 and from about 19 -20. Examples:
[0047] In vivo antiperspirant test [0048] To determine the antiperspirant effect, an antiperspirant study was conducted on the backs of 18 female volunteers. For this purpose, a 40.0% by weight aqueous-alcoholic solution of a compound of formula (I) with n=2 was prepared (dipropylene glycol -commercial product).
[0049] On the backs of 18 test subjects 75 n1 of the prepared solution was applied on one side of the spine. After 5 minutes, the treated areas were covered with occlusive non-adsorbing foil. After 2 hours, these non-adsorbing pads were removed. The compositions were applied to the back of the subjects on four consecutive days in the manner described above. oh after the last application of the composition, absorbent pads were applied to the back of the subjects in the places where the composition was previously applied. Furthermore, pads were also applied to the other side of the spine at the same height, which served as a control. After the test subjects had sweated in the sauna at 80 °C for about 15 minutes, the amount of sweat absorbed by the pads was determined gravimetrically, whereby the composition was compared with the corresponding untreated area on the back. From the gravimetric determination of the sweat quantity, the sweat reduction was determined, whereby all determined values were statistically significant, 100501 A significant sweat reduction of 22.6 % was determined when using the aqueous solution of the compound of formula (I). The use of cosmetic products containing soluble oligomers according to the invention led to a reduction in perspiration and body odour when applied to the skin.
