Abstract

258,865. K³chenmeister, H. Sept. 22, 1925, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Diplex signalling.-In order to produce a stereophonic or plastic effect in reception, two separate microphones are used at the transmitting station, one being separated from the other by preferably 33 metres so as to give rise to an effective time-lag of one-tenth of a second. The time-lag may, however, vary from one-eighth to one-thirtieth of a second. The two microphone currents may be used to modulate carrier-waves of different frequency. These are separately rectified at the receiving end, and, in the case of headphones, are fed independently to the two earpieces. When reproducing from a gramophone record the necessary time-lag is produced as described in Specification 238,372, [Class 40 (ii), Phonographs &c.], by passing two sound-boxes over the record, one being an electric microphone which acts directly upon the transmitter.
