Cow-milkers.-In pulsators for suction milking- machines provided with an oscillating rotary slide 19 which is actuated by a diaphragm or one or more reciprocating pistons 2 in a cylinder 1 and has passages 27, 28, 25, 26 which open in a plane surface and put the outer chambers of the teat cups alternately into communication with the outside air and with a suction conduit 31, the plane surface of the slide bears against a plane surface on a stationary part 18 which has passages 32, 33, 29, 30 leading to the teat-cup chambers and to the suction conduit 31 and is formed as a ring into which extends a square pin 20 on the slide whereby the required rotary movement is transmitted to the slide by the action of the pistons. The pin 20 engages a pin 17 on a rotatable sleeve 16 recessed at 15 for the reception of arms 14 at the upper end of a pin 12 which is rotatably mounted in a stationary part 11 and carries an arm 10. This arm projects between abutments 8, 9 on the rod 3 connecting the pistons 2 and is given a snap action by a spring 13 as soon as one or other of the abutments has moved the arm past its middle position. The slide is enclosed by a spring-held cap 22 which is apertured at 24. In the position shown in the Figures suction is being communicated from nozzle 31 to nozzle 35 and the end 1<1> of the cylinder 1 by passages 30, 29, 26, 33 and a conduit 5; and through passages 32, 27, openings 24. and a conduit 4, the nozzle 34 and the opposite end of the cylinder 1 are open to the atmosphere.
