Abstract

A USB cable 4 is provided with a series of magnets 6 at preset intervals along the length of the cable. To store and transport the cable the user wraps the cable 4 around a USB connector 2, utilising the first magnet 3 placed each side of the connector 2 to attract the first of the cable magnets 6. One magnet will attract to the next upon each winding of the coil of cable, holding the cable in situ. The process is repeated as the cable is wound around itself. The distal end of the cable also comprises a further connector body 8 with a magnet 9 in order to attract to the outer coil magnet 6.

Description

Page 1 A magnetic USB adapter cable The present invention relates to a data transfer and charging cable.
Data transfer and charging cables such as USB adapters are becoming an essential part of our everyday lives due to increasing popularity and dependency on portable electronic devices such as smart phones, tablets, laptop computers and the like. However, without a separate storage unit or winding device then neatly storing these cables for transport can be difficult and they can often become tangled or intertwisted which can cause damage. The use of a separate storage unit or winding device can take up much needed space in the users pocket or bag when travelling and can also get in the way when the user is trying to charge their device or transfer data.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a data transfer and charging cable which can be neatly coiled using the USB connection plug as a cable spool. A series of magnets on the connection plug sleeve and inside the cable jacket will securely hold it in a neat coil to prevent damage and to save space whilst in transportation.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows a magnetic USB adapter cable ready for charging or transferring data according to the invention; and Figure 2 shows a magnetic USB adapter cable in a neat and secure coil ready for storage or travelling according to the invention; and Figure 3 shows a cross section of a magnetic USB adapter cable in a neat and secure coil ready for storage or travelling according to the invention; and Figure 4 shows a cross section of a magnetic USB adapter cable
