Abstract

A USB cable 4 is provided with a series of interlocking fasteners 3 at preset intervals along the length of the cable. To store or transport the cable a user wraps the cable 4 around a sleeve 2 provided on the USB connector 1. A projection on connection 3 (see figure 1) engages with a corresponding recess on a second connector 3 holding the cable in situ. The process is repeated as the cable is wound around itself. The distal end of the cable 6 engages with a connector 5.

Description

Page 1 An interlocking USB adapter cable The present invention relates to a data transfer and charging cable.
Data transfer and charging cables such as USB adapters are becoming an essential part of our everyday lives due to increasing popularity and dependency on portable electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, notebook computers and the like. However, without a separate storage unit or winding device then neatly storing these cables for transport can be difficult and they can often become tangled or intertwisted which can cause damage. The use of a separate storage unit or winding device can take up much needed space in the users pocket or bag when travelling and can also get in the way when the user is trying to charge their device or transfer data.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a data transfer and charging cable which can be neatly coiled using the USB connection plug as a hub. A series of interlocking fasteners on the connection plug sleeve and along the cable will securely hold it in a neat coil to prevent damage and to save space whilst in transportation.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: * figure 1 shows an interlocking USB adapter cable ready for charging or transferring data according to the invention; and * figure 2 shows an interlocking USB adapter cable in a neat and secure coil ready for storage or travelling according to the invention A USB adapter cable with a number of interlocking fasteners 3 on opposite sides of the connection plug sleeve 2 and at specific points along the length of the cable 4. The number of interlocking fasteners 3 will depend on the length of the cable 4. When the USB adapter cable needs to be transported, the user can coil the cable 4, starting by coiling it around the USB connection plug sleeve 2, interlocking the fasteners 3 in turn to create a neat and secure coil. The USB connection plug land sleeve 2 will act as a hub. The shape of the sleeve 2 will help direct the cable 4 in a neat coil. When desired, the user can uncoil the cable 4 by unclipping the interlocking fasteners 3 in turn from the opposite end.
