Abstract
258,313. Johnson, J. Y., (Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik). May 15, 1925. Extracting.-Iron oxide is prepared in finelydivided form by distributing iron carbonyl in an oxidizing gas, or by distributing in an oxidizing gas iron carbonyl or ferric chloride mixed with a combustible gas, vapour, or liquid, igniting the mixture and separating the resulting oxide from the products of combustion. This, iron carbonyl may be atomized, alone or mixed with alcohol or other combustible liquid, with air or oxygen, and burnt, the finely-divided oxide being separated out by filtering chambers. The resulting iron oxide may be used for the production of finelydivided iron.
