Description
CAP WITH AN OPENING INDICATOR
DESCRIPTION
Technical field of the invention
The present invention corresponds to the technical field of closure devices for containers, in particular to a cap with an opening indicator, comprising a base adapted to be coupled to the neck of a container and a lid joined to the same by means of a hinge and by means of opening indicators joined to the base and to the lid and provided with a breakage area during the first opening of the lid.
Background of the invention
Currently, there are different caps with an opening indicator formed by a base adapted to be coupled to the neck of a container and a lid joined to said base by means of a hinge and opening indicators.
These opening indicators are detachable joints which are joined to the base and to the lid and are provided with a breakage area which is fragmented, detaches or changes position after the first opening of the lid. With these indicators, it attempts to obtain visible and unequivocal proof that the container has not been opened prior to the acquisition thereof by the consumer.
As an example of the state of the art, reference document ES2084159 can be mentioned, in which a tamper-indicating closure for a container is defined, comprising an annular closure ring having a closure lid and an annular sealing band detachably connected to the lid by frangible means. It also comprises a plurality of flexible projections in the band, extended circumferentially towards the inside and means of interference attached to them which cooperate with them in order to fracture the frangible means during the removal of the closure of the container.
In this case, it is observed that the closure has, as in most closures of this type in the state of the art, frangible means formed by a plurality of joining tabs between the lid and the annular band, which are fracturable when the container is opened for the first time.
However, these types of caps, as with most existing in the state of the art, have certain drawbacks, due to the fact that these joining tabs must have a small cross section to be able to yield in a simple and quick manner with the opening of the container, which generates a complicated or impossible detection thereof in order to perform a visual check of the tamper protection of the closure.
Furthermore, precisely because of this small cross section of the tabs, the existence of a multitude of said tabs is necessary so that at the same time they are able to ensure resistance of the closure of the cap against manipulations.
It is therefore necessary to solve these problems by finding a cap with a closure with tamper indicators that offer a clear view of whether or not they have been tampered with, while ensuring resistance of the closure prior to the first opening.
No closure with an indicator has been found in the state of the art which solves these drawbacks.
Description of the invention
The cap with an opening indicator herein proposed comprises a base having open lower and upper ends, adapted to be coupled to the neck of a container, and a lid with an open lower end and a closed upper end, joined to the base by means of a joint hinge and by means of opening indicators joined to the base and to the lid and provided with a breakage area during the first opening of the lid.
This cap comprises at least four opening indicators, two of them arranged in the front area of the cap, this area being the one opposite from the hinge, and the other two on each side comprised between the hinge and said front area, respectively.
Each opening indicator is formed by a first joining end joined to the upper end of the base, a second joining end joined to the lower end of the lid and a central segment between both, wherein the base and the lid are configured to form a separation opening with respect to said central segment.
Likewise, the opening indicator has a cross section decreasing from the first and second joining ends to an intermediate area of the central segment configured as the breakage area, such that the width of the breakage area is less than the width in any other cross section.
With the cap with an opening indicator herein proposed, a significant improvement of the state of the art is obtained. This is so that a cap able to ensure the tamper protection of the container is achieved in a manner clearly visible to the consumer.
Furthermore, thanks to the fact that the number of tamper protection indicators has been reduced and that those that exist have a greater cross section, the injection process of the cap is facilitated:
Moreover, the design of these opening indicators conditions that the collapse thereof is made along the specific breakage area which is perfectly visible, favouring the evidence of the situation of the tamper protection or lack thereof of the container in a quick and intuitive way.
These opening indicators are also arranged in a strategic manner such that the two located in the front area enable a quick view of the situation of the container and furthermore enable the cap to have the necessary resistance so that the lid remains in the closed position on the base. Moreover, the indicators arranged on the sides between the hinge and the front area facilitate easy visibility for the consumer.
A cap with an opening indicator that is simple and comfortable to use is thus obtained, which manages to effectively show the consumer the situation of tamper protection or lack thereof, in a quick and easily visible way.
Brief description of the drawings
To complement the description provided herein and for the purpose of helping to better understand the features of the invention according to a preferred practical embodiment thereof, said description is accompanied by a set of figures constituting an integral part of the same, wherein the following is depicted with an illustrative and non-limiting character:
Figure 1.- Shows a perspective view of the cap with an opening indicator, in a closed cap position, for a preferred embodiment of the invention.
Figures 2.1 and 2.2.- Show profile views of the cap with an opening indicator in closed and open positions of the cap, respectively, for a preferred embodiment of the invention.
Figures 3.1 and 3.2.- Show front elevation views of the cap with an opening indicator in closed and open positions of the cap, respectively, for a preferred embodiment of the invention.
Figure 4.- Shows a rear elevation view of the cap with an opening indicator, for a preferred embodiment of the invention.
Detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the invention
In light of the figures provided, it can be seen how in a preferred embodiment of the invention, the cap (1) with an opening indicator which is herein presented, comprises a base (2) with open lower and upper ends (2.1, 2.2), adapted to be coupled to the neck of a container and a lid (3) with an open lower end (3.1) and a closed upper end (3.2), joined to the base (2) by means of a joint hinge (4) and by means of opening indicators (5) joined to the base (2) and to the lid (3) and provided with a breakage area (6) during the first opening of the lid (3).
This cap (1) comprises four opening indicators (5), two of them arranged in the front area (7) of the cap (1), this area being the one opposite from the hinge (4), and the other two on each side comprised between the hinge (4) and said front area (7), respectively.
The two indicators (5) of the front area (7), which are shown in Figures 3.1 and 3.2, apart from enabling the existence or absence of prior opening of the container to be detected, provide the necessary resistance to maintain the lid (3) in the initial closed position. Moreover, the indicators (5) of both sides, enable a simple and quick visualization of the status thereof, in order to detect the tamper protection of the container.
Each opening indicator (5) is formed by a first joining end (5.1) joined to the upper end (2.2) of the base (2), a second joining end (5.2) joined to the lower end (3.1) of the lid (3) and a central segment (8) between both of them.
Furthermore, the base (2) and the lid (3) are configured to form a separation opening (9) with respect to said central segment (8).
In this preferred embodiment of the invention, as shown in Figures 2.1 and 2.2, in the case of the opening indicators (5) arranged on the sides, both the contour of the upper end (2.2) of the base (2) and the contour of the lower end (3.1) of the lid (3) have a recessed area (10) for the joining of the first and second joining ends (5.1, 5.2), respectively, of said indicators (5), facilitating the existence of the defined separation opening (9).
In this preferred embodiment, as seen in Figures 3.1 and 3.2, in the case of the opening indicators (5) arranged in the front area (7), said contours of the upper end (2.2) of the base (2) and of the lower end (3.1) of the lid (3) do not have a recessed area (10) in the joint with them, since they already have a sufficient separation opening (9), without needing to have a recessed area (10), but in other embodiments it may exist.
The opening indicator (5) has a cross section decreasing from the first and second joining ends (5.1, 5.2) to an intermediate area of the central segment (8) configured as the breakage area (6), such that the width of the breakage area (6) is less than the width in any other cross section. In this manner, the collapse of the opening indicators (5) along said breakage area (6) in particular is ensured, which is perfectly visible.
Thus, in Figures 2.1 and 3.1, the cap (1) can be seen when it remains untampered with, since no previous opening thereof has been made and the opening indicators (5) remain intact, while in Figures 2.2 and 3.2, said indicators (5) are shown as fractured along the breakage area (6) after a first opening.
Likewise, as shown in said Figures 2.2 and 3.2, in this preferred embodiment of the invention, the first and second joining ends (5.1, 5.2) of the opening indicators (5) remain joined to the base (2) and the lid (3), respectively, once the first opening of the cap (1) and the breakage of the indicators (5) along the breakage area (6) have been performed.
On the other hand, in this preferred embodiment of the invention, the opening indicators (5) are arranged symmetrically, for a correct application of the resistance force which enables the lid (3) to be maintained in the closed position before a first opening.
Finally, the cross sections of the cap are suitably designed so as to allow a correct filling process during the manufacture thereof by plastic injection.
