Abstract
An adjustable height wind turbine 1 which automatically ascents and retracts from a restricted daytime height or ground to achieve a required safe height for purpose of operation during the night. This system may be powered by solar panels 15 and standby battery storage. Height sensors and timers are used to determine appropriate descent times including in restricted areas. A hydraulic lift pump may be used to lower and raise the masts. The masts may automatically descend when there is a systems failure or a need for maintenance. The system is intended to reduce noise and visual pollution during the day.
