Abstract
A renewable energy wind funnel apparatus for a vehicle (e.g. automated electric vehicle, car, van, SUV, MPV, bus, train, ship, aircraft), the apparatus including; a wind funnel 1, funnel housing 3, side inlets 4, a turbine 5, a dynamo 6, wiring connectors 7, a Venturi pipe 8, a battery 9, and a DC motor 12. As the vehicle travels forward, wind flow 2 enters the funnel through a main frontal opening and/or side inlets and into the narrowed Venturi pipe to compress and accelerate the air to the turbine, which is rotated by the air flow. The turbine is directly linked to the dynamo/generator, the rotation of which generates electrical energy which is passed through the wiring connectors to the battery which, in turn, may power the DC motor. Therefore, the battery is recharged as the vehicle travels. The wind funnel, Venturi pipe, turbine and dynamo may be enclosed within a roof mounted box. Power generated by the wind funnel apparatus may be used for powering third party devices once the vehicle has reached a destination, e.g. lighting at a camp site.
