Detachable Fixing Device for a Carrier Rail in a Housing
The invention relates to a fastening device for a carrier rail with the features of the generic term of claim 1. A carrier rail is a profile rail and is also called a DIN rail. In electrical engineering, this is used to fasten electrical and/or electronic equipment into a housing. Such a housing is, for example, a distribution box, a switch cabinet, a junction box, or the like.
The electrical/electronic equipment can be relays, current switches, terminals or the like.
A corresponding carrier rail is fastenend into the housing by a fastening device, for example, in the form of screws. Generally, the corresponding carrier rails have a carrier rail base with side surfaces protruding upwardly therefrom and side walls arranged at their upper ends. The carrier rails are used in standardized sizes, whereby various types of carrier rail are combined, for example, according to the DIN EN 60715 standard.
In order to improve a fastening device of the type mentioned above, in a manner that the carrier rails can be easily arranged and replaced without using any tools, the solution according to the invention with the features of claim 1 is proposed.
This solution is particularly characterized by the fact that the fastening device comprises a mounting bracket, which can preferably be detachably fastened on its underside into the housing and which comprises an insertion recess, in which the carrier rail can be inserted and is detachably locked into its insertion position. This means, for instance, that the mounting bracket is fastened into the housing by screws or the like and then serves to easily snap or lock down the carrier rail into the corresponding insertion position. Once the carrier rail has reached the corresponding insertion position in the insertion recess, detachable locking occurs automatically. Conversely, releasing the carrier rail from the locking engagement can be performed manually in order to remove the carrier rails from the assembly device in a simple manner. Screws or the like are not required for fastening the carrier rail. This simplifies the effort involved in arranging and detaching the carrier rails, even in potentially explosive areas, while at the same time allowing the support rail to be held securely by the fastening device according to the invention.
The corresponding insertion recess can be easily determined by means of the mounting bracket in that, for example, the insertion recess is formed between two lateral bracket arms with locking devices. These bracket arms protrude towards the carrier rail, and from above, the carrier rail is inserted between the bracket arms into the insertion recess, where it is detachably locked into the insertion position with the corresponding locking devices of the bracket arms. To remove the carrier rail, the bracket arms are pushed slightly away from each other so that the locking engagement is released and the carrier rail can then be simply lifted upwards out of the insertion recess.
This means that it is still advantageous in this context if, for example, the bracket arms extend upwards from a bracket base plate. This bracket base plate essentially forms a lower end of the insertion recess, whereby it is possible to arrange the carrier rail into its insertion position on this bracket base plate, for example, with its carrier rail base. If, for example, the bracket base plate is used to fasten the mounting bracket or the fastening device in the housing, it may prove more advantageous in this context, if necessary, if the insertion recess comprises a base support for the carrier rail base, said base support is disposed above the bracket base plate. This makes it easier to arrange the carrier rail at a distance to a corresponding housing wall and then easier to reach under it for removal.
To further support the carrier rail, support arms can be arranged laterally to the base support, so as to support the side walls of the carrier rail. This means that the carrier rail then rests with its carrier rail base on the base support and with its side walls on the upper ends of the corresponding support arms.
The corresponding mounting brackets can be arranged at different points along the carrier rail to support it. It may be sufficient if such mounting brackets are arranged at the ends of the carrier rail. In this case, in order to fasten the carrier rail in its longitudinal direction, it can be regarded as favourable if at least one end stop of the carrier rail is formed transversely to the base support. With this carrier rail end stop, the carrier rail is in contact in its insertion position, so that when two corresponding mounting brackets are used, the carrier rail is held securely in its longitudinal direction in addition to latching onto the mounting brackets. Of course, further mounting brackets can also be arranged between such mounting brackets at the ends of the carrier rail, which in this case have no corresponding carrier rail end stops.
If necessary, the carrier rail can be simply locked into its insertion position if each bracket arm comprises a locking hook projecting obliquely downwards in the direction of the base support, which can be snapped or latched onto a side wall of the carrier rail in its insertion position.
In order to keep the rail in the insertion position not only due to the locking engagement, it may still prove to be further advantageous if, for example, a first bracket arm has a pivotable locking arm that is detachably connected to a second bracket arm of the corresponding mounting bracket in a closed position of the locking arm. This means that the carrier rail is inserted into the insertion recess, as already described above, and locked there by means of the corresponding locking hooks. For further safety, the locking arm is then pivoted and detachably connected to the other bracket arm. This results in a double mounting of the carrier rail in the fastening device according to the invention. To remove the carrier rail, the detachable connection between the locking arm and the second bracket arm is first loosened and then the locking engagement [occurs] between the side walls and the locking hooks.
The detachable connection between the locking arm and the second bracket arm can be realized in different ways. For example, the second bracket arm can have a locking groove on its inner side, which is provided for the first clamping arm, into which a free end of the pivoting locking arm engages in the corresponding closed position. There is also the possibility that the locking arm comprises a locking claw or pawl at its free end, which, in the closed position, engages a locking projection on the second bracket arm.
Further possibilities for detachable connection of the locking arm and the second clamping arm are conceivable.
In order to easily pivot the locking arm relative to the first clamp arm, a film hinge can be designed as an articulation or hinge means between the locking arm and the first clamping arm. Such a film hinge is manufactured simultaneously with the production of the first clamping arm and the locking arm, so that no additional working steps are required for the pivoting connection between the locking arm and the first clamping arm.
In order to fix the fastening device and in particular the mounting bracket into the housing in a simple manner, a screw hole can be formed in the bracket base plate, by means of which the base plate can be fastened on the housing by screwing. Of course, two or more screw holes can also be provided. The housing can be equipped with a number of such fastening devices or mounting brackets before mounting the corresponding carrier rails with electrical and electronic equipment.
In order to screw in a corresponding screw to fasten the mounting bracket in a simple manner and fasten it in the corresponding position, the screw hole can have a supporting edge protruding in the direction of the base support. This is on top of the screw hole or base plate and serves as a screw stop for a corresponding screw.
If the corresponding mounting bracket is fastened into the housing, it should be arranged in a certain orientation or specific alignment, in particular, in relation to a further mounting bracket. In order to facilitate this in a simple manner, at least one or more, and in particular, two positioning projections can also be arranged on the underside of the bracket base plate of the mounting bracket laterally to the screw hole. These postioning protrusions come into contact with the corresponding stops when the mounting bracket is fastened into the housing by screwing. This avoids twisting the mounting bracket both during fastening by screwing in the screw and during subsequent contact, i.e. torsion protection is provided.
In order to provide a corresponding device in the housing, the fastening device may further comprise a mounting bracket assembly device, which essentially comprises two or three mounting projections, one of which is designed as a fastening projection that is designed for placing and screwing on the corresponding screw hole of the mounting bracket. The further mounting projection(s) are connected to the fastening projection(s) via partitions, whereby the positioning projections can be applied to these partitions so as to determine the position of the mounting bracket.
In order to limit a pivoting movement of the bracket arms away from each other when the bracket arms are pressed apart, it is possible for the protective arms to protrude laterally outwards relative to the bracket arms from the base plate or from the base support. These limit the pivoting of the bracket arms away from each other.
The fastening device according to the invention can be made in one piece, in particular with regard to the mountig bracket, and can in particular be made of an elastic plastic material.
In the following, an advantageous exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in more detail using the figures attached to the drawing.

Fig. 7 the fastening device 1 according to the preceding figures with mounting bracket and mounting bracket assembly device, and
Fig. 8 a top view of a housing with the fastening device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a mounting bracket 5 of a fastening device 1 according to the invention. This is detachably fastened into a housing 3 by means of a bracket base plate 11, see also the following figures, see for example Fig. 7 and 8, using a screw 42. The fastening device 1 is used for detachably mounting a carrier rail 2, for example, in the form of a DIN rail or a metal profile rail. This is used to arrange various electrical or electronic equipment 4 within the corresponding housing. Such a housing can be a control box, distribution box, junction box or the like.
A mounting bracket assembly device 32, which is arranged in the housing 32, serves as a further part of the assembly device 1 for mounting the mounting bracket 5 according to Fig. 1, see also in particular Figs. 7 and 8.
The mounting bracket extends essentially across the carrier rail 2 and comprises an insertion recess 7, see also Fig. 3, into which the carrier rail 2 can be inserted from above, whereby it then assumes its insertion position 8 according to Fig. 1 or 2 in the corresponding inserted position. The carrier rail 2 is essentially arranged between two bracket arms 9, 10 of mounting bracket 5, which extend upwards from the bracket base plate 11. Each bracket arm 9, 10 has corresponding locking hooks 19, 20 as fastening means, which rest above the corresponding side walls 16, 17 of the carrier rail 2, see underside 6, in insertion position 8. This is shown, for example, in Figs. 1 and 2. The corresponding carrier rail is also known as a DIN rail or top-hat rail because of its profile, which is essentially U-shaped like a hatThe carrier rail 2 also has a carrier rail base 13, which extends between the corresponding side walls 16, 17. The carrier rail base 13 rests on a base support 12 of the mounting bracket 5, which is arranged at a distance from the bracket base plate 11, see also Fig. 3. The side walls 16, 17 are also contacted laterally by the corresponding support arms 14, 15, which support the side walls from below and laterally when the carrier rail 2 is arranged in its corresponding insertion position 8. The support arms 14, 15 extend upwards from the bracket base plate 11 and run essentially parallel to and at a distance from the bracket arms 9, 10.
Furthermore, the mounting bracket 5 has carrier rail end stops 18, which protrude plateshaped upwards from the bracket base plate 11 and form end stops for the free ends of the carrier rail 2, see also the arrangement of the carrier rail according to Fig. 5. The corresponding carrier rail end stops 18 are essentially arranged between the bracket arms 9, 10 and extend perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the carrier rail 2.
The mounting bracket 5 rests on its underside from above on the corresponding mounting bracket assembly device 32, which has three mounting projections 33, 34 and 35. A central mounting projection 33 serves as a fastening projection 36, by means of which the mounting bracket 5 is screwed on. For this purpose, the bracket bottom plate 11 has a screw hole 27 approximately in the middle, which rests above the fastening projection 35, as seen in Figs. 1 and 2, see underside 29. The corresponding screw 42 is screwed herein. The remaining mounting [and fastening] projections 34 and 35 are connected to the mounting projection 36 by means of partitions 37 and 38. These partitions 37, 38 form stops for positioning projections 30, 31, see also Fig. 6, which abut against the partitions 5 when the mounting bracket 5 is fastened for the corresponding positioning or alignment of the mounting bracket
5.
In order to secure the rail in its insertion position, other than by means of engaging the locking hooks 19, 20 with the side walls 16, 17, a locking arm 21 is pivotably mounted at the upper end of at least one bracket arm 9. For this purpose, an articulation or hinge means 26, in particular in the form of a film hinge 25, is designed or constructed between the clamping arm 9 and the locking arm 21. The locking arm 21 can be hinged onto this articulation or hinge means 26 and can be arranged in the closed position 24 according to Figs. 1 and 2, see in comparison also Fig. 3 and 4. The corresponding locking projection 41 is arranged on an outside of the bracket arm 10, i.e. opposite to the corresponding locking hook 20, see also Fig. 4.
With regard to the screw 42 and the corresponding screw hole 27, it should also be noted that the screw hole 27 is surrounded by a slightly projecting support edge 28, see Figs. 1 and
4. This support edge 28 serves as an end stop when screwing in the corresponding screw 42 or as a support for a washer below the screw 42, see Fig. 1. It is also possible, for example, that such a mounting bracket 5 is not only used at the ends of the carrier rail 2, see Fig. 5, but is also fastened at other points in the longitudinal direction of carrier rail 2, in particular by omitting the carrier rail end stops 18, in order to fasten it within the housing 3 by means of the corresponding mounting bracket assembly device 32.
However, an arrangement of the mounting brackets 5, according to Fig. 5, i.e. at the corresponding ends of the carrier rail 2, is sufficient, which means that the carrier rail 2 can be used along its entire longitudinal alignment between the mounting brackets 5 for an arrangement according to the operating means 4, see Fig. 8.
The mounting bracket 5 according to the shown exemplary embodiment further comprises protection arms 39 and 40, which are arranged relative to the clamping arms 9, 10 opposite to the support arms 14, 15. These protective arms 39, 40 prevent the clamping arms 9, 10 from opening too far outwards if the corresponding locking engagement between this and the carrier rail 2, according to Figs. 1 and 2, is to be released.
According to the invention, the corresponding mounting bracket assembly devices 32 are arranged at different locations within the housing 3, but form parts of the fastening device 1 according to the invention. Various arrangements of such mounting bracket assembly device 32 are shown, for example, in Figs. 7 and 8. Each of the mounting bracket assembly devices 32 can be used to attach a corresponding mounting bracket 5. It is of course possible that the corresponding mounting brackets 5 are adapted according to the profile of the corresponding carrier rail, see various DIN rails according to EN 50022, a so-called G-rail, or other carrier rails with additional profiles. If necessary, the bracket assembly device 32 can always be the same, regardless of the corresponding mounting bracket 5.
The functionality or operation of the fastening direction 1 according to the invention is briefly explained below.
If the corresponding mounting brackets 5 are fastened into the housing 3 by using the associated mounting bracket assembly device 32, see screw 42 and abutment of the corresponding positioning projections 30, 31 on the partitions 37, 38, the carrier rail 2 is inserted into the insertion recess 7 until it has reached its insertion position 8. The carrier rail base 13 rests on the base support 12, and at the same time, the side walls 16, 17 are supported laterally by the support arms 14, 15, as well as from above by the locking hooks 19, 20. To further secure the carrier rail 2 in this insertion position 8, the locking arm 29 is then pivoted into the corresponding closed position 24, see Figs. 1 and 2. The carrier rail 2 can already be equipped with the appropriate or corresponding operating equipment 4 during its installation, or these are only applied after the carrier rail 2 has been arranged in its insertion position 8, see for example, Fig. 8.
If the carrier rail 2 is to be removed, the procedure described above is carried out in the reverse manner.
