Abstract

The clothes airer 10 includes a pair of leg frames 11 pivotally mounted relative to one another for movement about a first axis 12. A top frame 35 is pivotally mounted relative to the leg frames and pivotable about the first axis between a first position, in a collapsed condition of the airer in which the top frame lies alongside a leg frame, and a second position, in an extended condition of the airer in which the top frame lies substantially vertical and extends upwards from the first axis. The clothes airer additionally includes at least one clamp means 40 whereby the top frame may be clamped in the second position or released for movement to the first position. The clamp means may be resiliently biased. The clamp means may secure the top frame only at a single upwardly-extending position and this may be within a footprint defined by the maximum spacing of the lower ends of the leg frames. The clothes airer may also comprise a pair of side frames 24 pivotally secured relative to the leg frames and each comprising hanging rails 26.
