Abstract

An electric food warming hotplate comprises a metal enclosure 1 housing a heating element 2 and an insulating material 3. The heater may be mounted in the top surface of the enclosure, such that it only heats the top surface. An electric element may also heat one side of the hotplate more than the other. The insulating material may protect all other surfaces from heating up. The heating element may be a single sided heating element such as mica etched film containing a heat reflective element. The insulating material, such as wool fiber, may fill the air space within the enclosure.

Abstract Title: Electric hotplate with a single sided heating element.
(57) An electric food warming hotplate comprises a metal enclosure 1 housing a heating element 2 and an insulating material 3. The heater may be mounted in the top surface of the enclosure, such that it only heats the top surface. An electric element may also heat one side of the hotplate more than the other. The insulating material may protect all other surfaces from heating up. The heating element may be a single sided heating element such as mica etched film containing a heat reflective element. The insulating material, such as wool fiber, may fill the air space within the enclosure.

BACKGROUND [0001] The food warming hotplate my inventions refers, is a metal box with internal heater electric heater element, keeping pots of food warm placed on the top surface of the box. All the metal food warming hotplates on the market that I have examined have the metal element mounted on the base or middle of the metal enclosure. The heater element also emits heats on all sides equally. This causes all surfaces to heat and wastes energy as well as making other non-food warming surfaces hot with associated safety hazards. My invention has a single sided heater element, mounted directly underneath the top heating surface, thermally insulated from the other surfaces of the enclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND BEST MODE OF IMPLEMENTATION [0006] A metal enclosure (1) suitable for placing pots of food on top but non-exclusively for food. A metal enclosure (1) made from stainless steel or aluminum.
[0007] A metal enclosure containing a single sided electric heating element (2). A heating element (2) attached to the top surface of the enclosure (1) (internal) for heating the top surface only. A single sided heating element (2) such as mica etched film containing heat reflective element for single sided heating.

- Metal enclosure housing a heater element
- Insulating material
2. Electric Food Warming Hotplate that has heater mounted to top surface
3. Electric Food Warming Hotplate that only heats top surface
4. An electric element than heats one side more than the other
5. Electric Food Warming Hotplate that has heat insulating material protecting all other surfaces from heating up
