Abstract

A control assembly 1 for a roller blind or curtain incorporates a bead chain 3, and a rotatable bead chain seat 11 that is operatively coupled to a shaft for opening and closing the blind. A spring or otherwise elastic element 22 acts to bias a cover body 23 to hold the bead chain in engagement with the rotatable seat, up to a threshold pulling force at which the spring support gives way and releases the bead chain. This acts as a safety mechanism in case a user, such as a child, gets entangled in the bead chain and risks strangulation. The cover member is rotatable in register with the bead chain seat, via a clutch mechanism 12, which may include interlocking teeth 121, 241 and/or magnets (123, 243, fig 6). The cover member slides within a mounting space 21 of a lateral cover 2 and is guided into position by a connecting portion 211 and a shaft member 25.

CURTAIN CONTROL ASSEMBLY WITH SAFETY DEVICE FOR
BEAD CHAIN
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a curtain control assembly, especially to a curtain control assembly with a safety device for a bead chain that avoids a strangulation hazard to children and protects children from possible injuries.
Description of Related Art
Generally, a shaft of a curtain is driven to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise by a bead chain being pulled through a control assembly.
Thus a fabric of the curtain is moved upward or downward. However, the bead chain is circular and used for control of movement of the curtain fabric. The bead chain is with a certain strength and difficult to be broken. Young children are easy to feel panic and become suffocated while being entangled in the bead chain.
In order to solve the problem, a bead chain assembly with breakable design is provided. A locking mechanism is set between a driving mechanism connected to a cord and a transmission mechanism of a fabric. Thus the drive mechanism and the cord are separated from the transmission mechanism once excessive force is applied to the cord.
Those strangled can get rid of the cord. Yet the locking mechanism and other parts are also falling off together with separation of the cord. The parts are getting lost and difficult to be reassembled.
The curtain further includes a base connected to an outer tube thereof.
The base is inserted by a transmission shaft and is mounted with a bead-chain disc. The bead-chain disc is arranged with a plurality of slots used for mounting a bead chain. A cover is pivotally disposed on the base and used for limiting the bead chain to move in the bead-chain disc. The slot is inclined radially so that the bead chain can move and push the cover while being pulled. Thereby the cover falls off and the bead chain is released from the bead-chain disc. However, a bead chain driver of the curtain with such design is usually set against the wall and corresponding to the window. Thus the cover may be stopped by the wall and unable to be released freely.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Therefore it is a primary object of the present invention to provide a curtain control assembly with a safety device for a bead chain that allows the bead chain to be released from a control assembly and a lateral cover thereof immediately to protect young children from possible hazards or injuries caused by the bead chain while the young children have been strangled in the bead chain and trying to get rid of the bead chain.
Accordingly, the invention provides a curtain control assembly as set out in Claim 1. Preferred features of the invention are set out in Claims 2 to 7.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Refer to Fig. 1, Fig.2 and Fig. 3, a curtain control assembly with safety device for a bead chain according to the present invention mainly includes a control assembly 1, a lateral cover 2 and a bead chain 3.
The control assembly 1 consists of a bead chain seat 11 and a first clutch portion 12. The bead chain seat 11 is pivotally connected to the control assembly 1 and having a plurality of first curved slots 111 arranged circularly therearound. The first clutch portion 12 is formed on a center of the bead chain seat 11 and including a plurality of first stopping teeth 121 disposed circularly therearound. A first concave portion 122 is arranged at a center of the first stopping teeth 121 and a first magnetic element 123 is mounted in the first concave portion 122.
The lateral cover 2 is connected to the control assembly 1 and composed of a mounting space 21, an elastic element 22, a cover body 23, a second clutch portion 24 and a shaft member 25. One side of the lateral cover 2 corresponding to the control assembly 1 is concaved to form the mounting space 21 and a connecting portion 211 is formed on an inner surface of the mounting space 21. The elastic element 22 is arranged around the connecting portion 211 and the cover body 23 is mounted and moveable in the mounting space 21. The cover body 23 is disposed with a plurality of second curved slots 231 corresponding to and matched with the first curved slots 111 of the bead chain seat 11 of the control assembly
1. A center of the cover body 23 is set with the second clutch portion 24 that is engaged with the first clutch portion 12 on the bead chain seat 11. A plurality of second stopping teeth 241 is disposed circularly around the second clutch portion 24 and is engaged with the first stopping teeth 121 respectively. A second concave portion 242 is set on the center of the second stopping teeth 241 and a second magnetic element 243 is mounted in the second concave portion 242. The second magnetic element 243 and the first magnetic element 123 are magnetically attracted to each other. A mounting slot 232 is formed on one side of the cover body 23 corresponding to the elastic element 22 and the shaft member 25 is mounted in the mounting slot 232. The shaft member 25 is disposed with an mounting hole 251 corresponding to the connecting portion 211 of the mounting space 21. The shaft member 25 is fixed by the connecting portion 211 of the mounting space 21 being mounted in and connected to the mounting hole 251. A support groove 252 corresponding to the elastic element 22 is formed on the shaft member 25. One end of the elastic element 22 is mounted in the mounting space 21 while the other end thereof is leaning against the support groove 252. Thereby the shaft member 25 together with the cover body 23 is against and pushed outward by the elastic element 22.
The bead chain 3 is formed by a plurality of beads 31 connected and is wrapped around between the bead chain seat 11 of the control assembly 1 and the cover body 23 of the lateral cover 2. The beads 31 are mounted in the first curved slots 111 of the bead chain seat 11 and in the second curved slots 231 of the cover body 23. Thus the bead chain seat 11 and the cover body 23 connected by the first clutch portion 12 and the second clutch portion 24 can be rotated under control of the bead chain 3 while the bead chain 3 is pulled. As to the shaft member 25, it is fixed by the mounting hole 251 and the connecting portion 211 of the mounting space 21 being mounted with and connected to each other. Thus the shaft member 25 will not be rotated along with the cover body 23.
Refer to Fig. 4, the beads 31 of the bead chain 3 can be pulled to slide down along the first curved slot 111 and the second curved slot 231 when the young child’s neck gets caught in the bead chain 3 and struggled violently to free himself from the bead chain 3. This is owing to that the bead chain 3 is mounted in the first curved slot 111 of the bead chain seat 11 of the control assembly 1 and in the second curved slot 231 of the cover body 23. And the shaft member 25 is moved along with the cover body 23 of the lateral cover 2 to compress the elastic element 22 and make the elastic element 22 move toward the mounting space 21. Then the bead chain 3 squeezes and pushes cover body 23 to move toward the mounting space 21. At the same time, the first clutch portion 12 of the bead chain seat 11 and the second first clutch portion 24 of the cover body 23 are separated from each other. Thereby the bead chain 3 can be fallen off from a gap between the first curved slot 111 of the bead chain seat 11 and the second curved slot 231 of the cover body 23. Thus the bead chain 3 is completely released from the control assembly 1 and the lateral cover 2. The design protects young children from possible hazards caused by the bead chain 3.
Refer to Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, another embodiment is disclosed. A first clutch portion 12 on a center of a bead chain seat 11 of a control assembly
I is directly disposed with a first concave portion 122. The first concave portion 122 is used for mounting a first magnetic element 123. A cover body 23 of the lateral cover 2 has a flat surface and a second clutch portion 24 on the center of the cover body 23 is directly arranged with a second concave portion 242. A second magnetic element 243 that is magnetically attracted to the first magnetic element 123 is directly mounted into the second concave portion 242. Then a cylinder 233 extended from a center of the mounting slot 232 of the cover body 23 is inserted into a hole 212 of the connecting portion 211 of the lateral cover 2. Next a bead chain 3 is wrapped between the bead chain seat 11 and the cover body 23. The beads 31 of the bead chain 3 are mounted in first curved slots 111 of the bead chain set 11. The cover body 23 is rotated along with the bead chain seat
II while the bead chain 3 being pulled because that the first clutch portion of the bead chain seat 11 and the second clutch portion 24 of the cover body 23 are connected by the first magnetic element 123 and the second magnetic element 243 magnetically attached to each other. Refer to Fig. 7, the beads 31 of the bead chain 3 are pulled to move down along the first curved slot 111 and the flat surface of the cover body 23 when a young child’s neck got tangled in the bead chain 3. While being pulled, the bead chain 3 squeezes and pushes the cover body 23 to move toward a mounting space 21. At the same time, the second clutch portion 24 of the cover body 23 and the first clutch portion 12 of the bead chain seat 11 are released from each other. Thus there is a gap generated between the first curved slot 111 of the bead chain seat 11 and the cover body 23. The bead chain 3 can be moved out through the gap and completely released from the control assembly 1 and the lateral cover 2. Therefore the curtain control assembly with the safety device for the bead chain can protect children from bead-chain-related hazards.
In summary, the present invention protects young children from possible hazards caused by the bead chain by releasing the bead chain from the control assembly and the lateral cover completely while the young child gets tangled in the bead chain and pulls the bead chin with a certain force.
Additional advantages and modifications will readily occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspects is not limited to the specific details, and representative devices shown and described herein. Accordingly, various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the general inventive concept as defined by the appended claims and their equivalent.
