Drying materials in long lengths.-A vacuum extractor for use in apparatus for treating materials with liquids is rendered more effective by sealing the part of the slit P not covered by the fabric W by means of a rubber apron Q held at a suitable angle over the slit by an adjustable arm S. In use, the apron seals the open parts of the slit but does not interfere with the drawing of air through the fabric to dry it.
