Abstract

255,686. Brook, I. Oct. 8, 1925. Frinting on curved surfaces; hand-stamps. - A device for printing on spherical and other curved surfaces comprises a rubber or like flexible sheet 4 which is provided with a raised printing-surface 5 and is attached to a holder 1 having a recess 3 into which the sheet 4 can yield so as to conform with the surface to be marked, a spring-pressed plunger 11 being provided for returning the sheet 4 to its normal positions. The surface 5 is inked on a pad, pressure being meanwhile applied on the ends of a rod 10 carrying the plunger 1. The form shown in the Figure is designed for printing on the ends of electric-lamp bulbs, the holder 1 being of egg-cup shape so that when not in use it can rest on its base 2, and a hole 6 being provided in the centre of the part 5 to receive the usual pip of the bulb. The sheet 4 is circular and is fixed by means of a band 8 frictionally arranged on the holder or nailed or riveted thereto. In a modified construction for printing on the sides of electric-lamp bulbs, glasses, jugs, &c., the holder 1 is of horse-shoe shape with a cylindrical recess, and the sheet 4 is rectangular.
