Abstract

255,578. Jaretzki, R. May 12, 1925. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Records, blanks for.-Sound records comprising paper &c. coated with wax, are made by passing the paper obliquely upwards past a wax ejector which lies only on one side of the paper, preferably below. Liquid wax passes from a vessel 1 to an ejector having a slot-shaped opening 3. The paper 7 is fed by rollers 4, 5, in the upward direction past, and close to, the ejector, a roller 6 regulating its distance from the slot 3. Excess wax drops into a tank 9. By altering the inclination of the paper, the amount of wax that adheres is changed. By adjustment of the speed of travel of the paper, the quantity of wax ejected. and its temperature, a uniform coating 8, which does not penetrate too far, is obtained. A layer from 0.1 to 0.5 mm. thick is required. A wax mixture comprising 94 per cent of ceresin and 6 per cent of Carna³ba at 80‹-90‹ C. at the exit 3. and a speed of travel of the paper of 0.3 to 0.5 m. per second are specified.
