Balls, brushing and cleaning.-In a golf-ball cleaner of the type in which a brush carrier is rotatable relative to a ball carrier, the ball carrier comprises a separate receptacle for each ball, and the ball is given a laterally alternating movement between the ends of its receptacle. The cleaner comprises a cylindrical container 1 with a step bearing 4 for a central operating - shaft 5. The shaft carries a number of rectangular trays 10 each a little wider than, and about twice as long as, the diameter of a golf ball. A lid 3 carrying a brush 13 fits within the top of the container and provides a bearing 7 for the operating-shaft. A projection 3<1> prevents the lid from rotating. In using the cleaner, soapy water and sand are placed in the container, a ball is placed in each tray, the lid is depressed by hand, and the shaft 5 is rotated alternately in opposite directions, the balls thus being caused to move from side to side and from end to end of the trays during the brushing action.
