Abstract
Shaving brush 1 comprises a handle 2 and a brush head 10, located on the handle and having a rotatable brush 11and a static skirt 13A around the rotatable brush, powered by motor 3. In use, shaving material is applied to the brush head and the brush head is applied to the face, wherein the rotating brush massages the material over the face and the skirt catches material thrown off by the rotating brush. The skirt may be formed of one or two rings of bristles and may be longer, or extend away from the handle more, than the rotating brush. The skirt and the rotating brush may be annular. A cup 14 may be provided around the base of the skirt to catch shaving material. Speed control means 5A, 5B may be provided to rotate the brush at at least two speeds. The brush head may be angled at 45º to the handle. The brush head may be replaceable. A stand may also be provided to support the brush in an upright configuration.
Description
TITLE: Shaving Brush
The present invention relates to a shaving brush, especially a brush with a rotating brush head.
When wet shaving it is normal practice to apply shaving material such as foam, soap, gels or oils to the face using a brush prior to removing facial hair with a razor.
The use of a brush can be a messy operation with shaving material splashing onto clothes and bathroom fixtures.
The invention seeks to provide a solution to this problem.
According to the present invention there is provided a shaving brush comprising: a) a handle, b) a brush head on the handle, said brush head having a rotatable brush and a static skirt around the rotatable brush, and c) a motor to rotate the brush, in use shaving material being applied to the brush head or face and the brush head being applied to the face with the rotating brush massaging material over the face and the skirt catching shaving material being thrown off the rotating brush.
Preferably the rotatable brush has a concave brush face. The brush may be formed by bristles.
Preferably the skirt is formed by bristles. The skirt may be formed from one or two rings of bristles.
Preferably the skirt extends away from the handle more than the rotating brush.
Preferably the skirt and rotatable brush are annular.
Preferably a cup is provided around the base of the skirt to catch shaving material emerging from the skirt.
Preferably the motor is provided in the handle. Preferably batteries or rechargeable batteries are provided in the handle to power the motor. Preferably speed control means are provided to rotate the brush at least two speeds.
Preferably the brush head is supported at an angle to the handle, e.g. at 45°.
Preferably the brush head is replaceable. A stand may be provided to support the shaving brush with the rotatable brush and skirt pointing vertically upwards.
An embodiment of the invention with now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a shaving brush, and Figure 2 shows a cross section view of the brush head of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings there is shown a shaving brush 1.
Brush 1 has a handle is formed form a cylindrical tube 2 with a closed end 2A and brush end 2B. Tube 2 houses a motor 3, re-chargeable batteries 4, along with speed control means and “on”/ “off’ circuit (not shown) controlled by buttons 5A,5B. A replaceable brush head 10 is provided on the handle brush end 2B. Brush head 10 is releasably secured to the handle brush end 2B at an angle, e.g. 45°.
Bmsh head 10 has a rotatable annular brush 11 formed of bristles 11A (such as synthetic bristles) extending from a brush base 1 IB. The exposed face 12 of the brush 11 is concave. A static annular skirt 13A of bristles on a skirt base 13B is provided around the rotatable bmsh 11. Skirt 13A may a single ring of bristles or a double ring of bristles. The skirt 13A extends away from the handle 2 more than the rotating brush so that the rotatable bmsh 11 is “recessed” within the skirt.
When connected to the handle 2, the rotatable brush is connected via a drive shaft 3A to the motor 3, to enable the motor to rotate the brush. The motor may drive the rotatable brush at two or more speeds as controlled by buttons 5A,5B. A cup 14 is provided on the brush head around the skirt base 13B to catch shaving material emerging from the skirt.
In use shaving material being applied to the bmsh head or face and the brush head being applied to the face with the rotating brush massaging material over the face and the skirt catching shaving material being thrown off the rotating brush, and the cup catching shaving material emerging from the skirt.
If desired, a stand may be provided to support the shaving brush with the rotatable brush and skirt pointing vertically upwards thereby containing any shaving material or water in the brush head.
The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above.
Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
