Abstract
A wrench for applying torque to cylindrical components comprises a belt 1, which may be smooth or toothed, which fits into a slotted drive tool 2. The tool includes a connection for a conventional wrench 3.
Description
Multi Application Friction Wrench Background
This invention relates to a device that imparts torque to another object For example cylindrical components or components shaped in such a way that rotational mechanical lock is not available and/or are difficult to impart torque to.
Statement of Invention
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a toothed or flat belt and a torque-constriction driver.
Advantages The use of this tool overcomes the access and space restrictions imposed on other tools used for similar applications.
This tool allows the imparting of torque to infinitely variable sized and irregularly shaped objects. Preferably the belt will be toothed to lock in position on the driver preventing slippage.
Introduction to drawings
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 Shows Driver and Belt Overview Figure 2 Shows tool operation Figure 3 Shows toothed belt application interface
Detailed description.
1. The toothed belt (1) encompasses the object to be rotated (torqued), both ends of the belt slot into the torque driver (2) as shown in figure. 3. The torque driver is rotated as shown in figure. 2. causing a constricting rotational movement to be applied to the object to be rotated (torqued). The driver tool can be manufactured to be driven / rotated by any existing wrench system. One example being a square ratchet drive (3).
Claims (5)
- Claims.1. A belt and driver arrangement to rotate-impart torque to a mechanical component for various applications including the tightening/loosening of threaded components.
- 2. A belt and driver arrangement according to claim 1. In which a wrench system incorporating a belt 0 and driver in which the belt would preferably but not essentially be toothed.
- 3. A belt and driver arrangement according to claim 2. In which the driver will be driven by or incorporate any existing wrench systems.
- 4. A belt and driver arrangement according to claim 3. In which the turning motion of the driver constricts the belt and imparts torque to the component that requires torque (figure 2)
- 5. A belt and driver arrangement according to claim 4. In which the belt locates into the driver (figure 3)
