Keyboard switches. - In an organ, a doubletouch stop-key, when operated to the first extent of depression, brings on the corresponding stop irrespective of the condition of other stops, and when operated to a further extent, cuts off the other stops maintaining the particular stop solo. When the additional pressure is relieved, the key is returned to its first depressed position. The stop-key a, which has an inclined part p bearing its label, is pivoted at b and carries a pin v maintained in connection with a source of electricity by the engagement of the point of a piece y, pivotally mounted on the pin v, in a depression x in a terminal blade w. The contact wires s, t are so bent that on depression of the key a to the first degree (in which position the key is held by a spring not shown) contact is made with the wire s to bring on the stop; while with further depression, against the action of a blade spring l with which a button k moving with the key engages, contact is also made with the wire t connected to a solenoid operating a multiple switch closing the " off " circuits of all the stop solenoids of the department. In the latter case the contact s maintains the particular stop " on," but if desired the " off " circuits of the stops may be connected through contacts which include the blade spring l so that such a contact at l is automatically broken when a key a is depressed to the second degree. In a modification, the pin v is arranged horizontally and the wires s, t vertically, and the spring l is carried by the key. In another construction, three contact wires are provided one being connected to the source of electricity, and a plate, carried by the key bridges either two or all three of these contacts.
