Abstract

The invention relates to a diffusible composition, suitable for calming and de-stressing animals, comprising: one or more essential oils, water, and a volatizing agent, wherein the one or more essential oils is valerian. Also claimed is a dispenser comprising a reservoir comprising the aforementioned composition, wherein the dispenser is adapted to permit diffusion of the composition from the reservoir. Preferably, the one or more essential oils is a blend of a plurality of essential oils comprising vetivert, basil sweet and sage. Preferably, the volatizing agent is 3-methyoxy-3-methyl-1-butyl acetate (MMB) (CAS RN 103429-90-9).

The composition of the second aspect of the invention may be delivered into the environment by the means discussed in relation to the first aspect of the invention.
The use of a dispenser that heats the composition and is powered by mains or portable electricity supply addresses the problems associated with more traditional delivery means such as tea light or candle powered burners or topical compositions containing essential oils. The essential oil can be heated more uniformly and more gently to avoid overheating and reduced effectiseness of the essential oil, Furthermore the essential oils can be released slowly, and if desired constantly, into the environment and this release can be over a prolonged period at tune, for example a number of weeks.
*The use of naked flames is avoided giving tisti 1,0 more environments and subjects in relation to which essential oils can be used, The composition or the first aspect of the invention allows delivyry of essential oils using non-traditional delivery methods such as those envisaged here thus achieving the above advantages.
