Abstract
Fitness and rehabilitation equipment having a frame 1 and base 2, the frame having a platform 10 for supporting a user. The frame is pivotally attached at one end to the base using a hinging mechanism. A seat 4, knee pad 7 and lifting handle 11 are situated on the platform, and there are shock absorbers 16 covering two edges of the frame. A bar with an arm pad 14 is attached to the base. In use, a user sits or stands on the platform, braces themselves on the arm rest, and lifts the platform upwards using the handle. The exercise equipment is intended to condition and strengthen the stabilising muscles of the vertebral column or spine.
Description
Fitness and rehabilitation equipment for conditioning muscles inaintaining stability of a vertebral column
Background.
This invention relates to fitness and rehabilitation equipment for exercising muscles recruited to maintain stability of the vertebral column The most common source of the hack pain are spinal injuries caused by instability of the vertebral column. Stability of the vertebral column depends on the condition of the muscles deployed to maintain its stability, and improving the condition of these muscles is essential in preventing and in treating spinal injuries. Condition of the muscles recruited to maintain stability of the vertebral column can be improved with physical exercises however, effectiveness of traditional exercises in improving condition of these muscles is limited due to the strain which the vertebral column is put under during these exercises, and which may cause further spinal injuries,
Statement of invention
overcome this limitation the present invention proposes a fitness and rehabilitation equipment for conditioning or the muscles recruited to niaintain stability of the vertebral column and for preventing strain on the vertebral coiumn of its user wren the user lifts with one hand a platform he is positioned on while leaning with another arm against an arm support attached to a base, which together with a frame housing the platform with the user forms a second -class lever, the fulcrum of which is the joint of the base and the frame.
Advantages, The prevention of putting under strain the vertebral column of the user lifting the load will allow the user to achieve the maximum effectiveness of conditioning the muscles recruited to maintain stability of the vertertrat column and to avoid spinal injuries caused by instability of the vertebral column. Preferably the fitness and rehabilitation equipment has a seat, knee pads, side pads, and a support attached to a base for stabifising the vertebral column during the exercises. Positions of the plat-torn of the support attached to the haseo I the seat, of the knee pads and of the side pads of the fitness and rehabilitation equipment may he adjustable in order to fit its users needs.
Introduction to drawings.
Examples of the invention wilt now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows a user of the fitness and rehabilitation equipment lifting the frame he is positioned on Figure 2 shows the fitness aria rehabilitation equipment in detail Figure S sheeted the fitness and rehabilitation equipment with alternative/another arrangement of its pans.
In figure 1, which serves the purpose of giving a general understanding of the invention and of as use before further and more detailed description of the fitness and rehabilitation equipment is presented, a frame 1 and a base 2 are Joined together so one end of the frame 1 with a platform 10 attached to it may he lifted when a user pulls a handle h1 while leaning against an arm pad 14, which is a part of an arm support attached to the base 2, and against a seat 4 and a knee pad 7 which are parts of a lower hack and leg support attached to the platform 10. The user can vary the lead he filth uy choosing the position of the platform 10 on a frame 1 -the toad increases when the platform is moved towards the lifted end of the frame 1 Adjustment of position of the handle 11 of the seal 4 of the knee pad 7, and of the aim pad 14 enables the user to stabilize his vertebral column in a close to horizontal position during the exercises and to avoid putting his vertebral u n under strain d ng the exercises Relative positions of the seat 4, of the pads 7 the ildle 11, and of the arm pad 14 ensures that the vertebral column of the user is in a close to horizontal position during the exercises, Absorbers 16 reduce pact of the frame 1 against the floor and base 2 during the exercises, which preferably consist of the user lifting and then lowering the platform 10 in sequences of several repetitions for both the user's left side and right side in figure 2 the fitness and rehabilitation equipment has a frame 1, which may be joined with a base 2 by using conventional means allowing one end of the frame 1 be lifted from the base 2 in this instance the frame 1 and the base 2 are joined together with ball bearings 3 placed at some distance from the rear ends of the frame 1 and of the base 2 so when the front end of the frame 1 is going up. the rear end of the frame 1 is going down without touching the base A seat 4 which may he of any shape allowing the user to comfortably iean against it during the exercises, and which in this instance is a seat with a narrow ledge, may he attached to a post 5 by using conventional meows In this instance the seal 4 is permanently attached to a cylinder 6 which can be moved along and fixed on the post 5 in a position preferable for the user using conventional means, for instance a pin placed through the cyiinder 6 and a corresponding hole on the post 5 Knee pads 7 are attached to the post 5 with a cylinder 8, which can be moved along and fixed on post 5 in a position preferable for the user using conventional means In this instance cylinders 6 and 8 are fixed to post with pins 9 inserted through corresponding holes on the post 5 The post 5 may be attached to a platform 10 by using conventional means which ensures that position of post 5 in respect to the platform 10 does not change during the exercises, and in this instance post 5 is attached to the platform 10 with four bolts holding together platform 10 and a plate welded to the post 5 A handle 11 may be attached to the platform 10 using conventional means. in this instance in cruet to be adjustable the handy.; 11 is attached to the platform W with telescopic supports 12, the length of which can be adjusted using pins 9 inserted through the corresponding holes in the telescopic supports 12. A bar 13 with a pad 14 may be attached to the base 2 using conventional means, and in this instance in order to he adjustable the bar 13 with the pad 14 is attached to the base 2 with telescopic supports 15, the length of which can be adjusted using pins 9 inserted through the corresponding holes in the telescopic supports 15. The telescopic supports 15 can be moved along and fixed to the base 2 using conventional means, and in this instance the telescopic supports 15 are fixed to the base 2 in a position chosen by the user using the pins 9 inserted through the corresponding holes on the base 2 In order to regulate the load used in exercises, the platform 10 can he moved along and fixed to the frame 1 in a position chosen by the user using conventional means. In this instance the platform 10 is fixed to the frame 1 using pins 9 inserted into corresponding holes of tne frame 1 and the platform 10. Absorbers 18 are attached to both ends of the frame 1.
In figure 3, a seat 4 is attached to the top part or a telescopic support 17, the sides of which have Knee pads 7 attached to it with cylinders 8. Side pads 18 are attached to cylinders 19 and can be fixed on the top part of the support 17 in a position which prevents the user from moving his lower back side to side during the exercises. The alternative arrangement of Knee pads 7 and the presence of the side pads 18 attached to the support 17 constitutes is the only material difference between two examples of tne fitness and rehabilitation equipment presented in figures 1 and 2 and in figure 3
