Abstract

Portable Tooth Cleaning device which has a body incorporating an integral reservoir 13 containing a cleaning agent which is dispensed onto the head 14 and/or through the bristles 16 of the head of the device. The cleaning agent is delivered by applying pressure to the cleaning agent or releasing a pre pressurised container within the body of the device by operating a switch, ratchet, button or slide. The head and body/handle may separate to allow refilling or cartridge refill insertion. This device may be reusable or disposable.

Description

Portable Tooth Cleaning Device This invention relates to a Portable Tooth Cleaning Device.
Tooth cleaning is most often undertaken using a toothbrush and some solution, powder, fluid or cleaning substance (cleaning agent). The two elements have to be manually combined to enable the cleaning agent to be introduced to the brush. The process involves separate brush and cleaning agent.
This invention combines the two elements so that the body or handle of the brush contains the cleaning agent.
The cleaning agent is introduced to the head of the brush through a reservoir so that it is extruded through holes in the brush head or through hollow bristles, to sit either on the exposed ends of the brush bristles or to pass between the bristles and sit on the brush head.
This invention is described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The drawings show one example of this device.
With reference to the drawings, the device consists of a handle 10 which contains a piston 11 which is operated by a sliding switch 12 which applies pressure to the contents of the reservoir 13 in the body and head 14 of the device so as to push the cleaning agent contained in the reservoir 13 out of the brush through hollow bristles 16.
The cleaning agent in the reservoir may be extruded through holes in the head (not shown) in between the bristles which then may or may not be hollow; this would deliver the cleaning agent to the head and/or the bristles of the brush.
The piston 11 operated by sliding switch 12 may be retained by a ratchet system 15.
Another variation (not shown) may use a replaceable cartridge in the body or handle of the device which contains the cleaning agent.
Another variation (not shown) may allow the head to be removed and replaced with a similar head or body.
A further variation (not shown) may include a pre pressurised container in the body or handle that when released delivers the cleaning agent to the head of the device through the hollow bristles or through holes in the head between the bristles.

Claims (6)

  1. Claims 1. A portable tooth cleaning device in which the cleaning agent is contained within the body of the device.
  2. 2. A portable tooth cleaning device as claimed in claim 1 where the cleaning agent can be transferred onto the head of the device by operating a slide, piston or switch which excerpts pressure on the cleaning agent and extrudes the cleaning agent through hollow bristles and/or holes in the device head.
  3. 3. A portable tooth cleaning device as claimed in claim 1 or 2 where the reservoir or cavity can be refilled via a removable cartridge or through a valve.
  4. 4. A portable tooth cleaning device as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 where the reservoir contains the cleaning agent under pressure so that through the operation of a switch or button a valve releases an amount of the cleaning agent to the head of the device.
  5. 5. A portable tooth cleaning device as claimed in claim 1, 2, 3 or 4 where the head is detachable from the body.
  6. 6. A portable tooth cleaning device as claimed in claim 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 with a head that is powered to vibrate or rotate.
